L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil | Product Review

June 27, 2014 in beauty, hair

Between dying my hair red earlier this year (here), and exposing it to intense sunlight a couple of weeks ago (here), it is, unsurprisingly, pretty dry. Whilst I’m grateful it’s not quite become a hot mess of frizz and split ends, yet, it definitely felt like time to start being a little kinder to my locks, and that’s why L’Oreal’s new(ish) ‘Extraordinary Oil’ caught my eye on a recent shopping trip.

I have to admit, I was a little wary, when I first picked this one up; a lot of hair oils and serums have tended to leave my locks feeling a little greasy, in the past, but my hair was crying out for moisture, so I gave it a go, and I am so pleased I did! I use this both on just-washed hair, and every other evening, on the ends of my hair, before bed, and have had none of that nasty product-y residue that I always associated with these products. Instead, my hair is softer, smoother, and much healthier-looking, and I’ve even had compliments on how good this stuff smells. I honestly can’t think of a downside to the product, and even the price point is budget-friendly.

Would I recommend it? Yes, a thousand times. I can only really vouch for its success on dry/damaged and coloured hair, but it does claim to tame frizz, too, and it definitely smells incredible. I can’t remember the last time my hair looked this healthy, and the results are pretty immediate, too.
I’d recommend applying it on wet hair, first, and then running a small amount through any dry patches every couple of days, before bed, for the best results.

What’s your take on hair oils? And how do you go about treating damaged hair?

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil retails for £9.99, and can be purchased from Boots stores nationwide, or their website.
