…can you tell I’ve been rewatching Friends all day, since Netflix launched all 10 seasons? I feel the post title might’ve given me away a little.
2017 was a year of big changes, and although I’m starting 2018 in a really good place, I’m doing my best to set myself up with some goals that’ll help me grow a little more for the new year, and I figured I’d share mine, just in case any of you have a had a hard time thinking some up this year!
1. THE ONGOING ONE: BEING KINDER TO MYSELF
I’ve been trying this for a few years, but I’d like to take it a little more seriously in 2018. Between leaving toxic relationships behind in 2017, and trying to take some of my tips for more self-love on board, I think I’ve set myself up to be a little less hard on myself, this year. Here’s hoping, eh?
2. THE ONE I SHOULD HAVE DONE YEARS AGO: GETTING OUT OF DEBT
Okay, so maybe that’s a little harsh…I’m not particularly ‘in debt’, but I do have a couple of credit cards that I’d like to cut up by the end of about March, and I’d like to get some savings together so I don’t constantly use my overdraft as a ‘safety net’ – yeah, I know that’s not a healthy way to see it. Plus, it leads me on to my next goal pretty well…
3. THE ONE I’VE BEEN DIGGING MY HEELS ABOUT: SAVING FOR A MORTGAGE
Ugh, as much as I loathe having to think about this kind of thing whilst in my head, I’m still 19, in reality, I’m 25, and if I ever want to get on the property ladder in my lifetime, I’m going to have to start thinking about it properly, this year. Let me know if you’d like a blog post on this in the near future, as I know I find it confusing AF, so if anyone else is, I’d be happy to do a roundup!
4. THE ONE I ALWAYS SAY AND NEVER DO: TRAVEL MORE. A LOT MORE
With everything that happened in the last year, I ended up not having the time nor the money to travel as much as I’d have liked. This year, I have a list of about 10 city breaks I’d like to manage, but ideally, I’m hoping for more as long as I don’t lose anymore jobs.
5. THE ONE I’M OPTIMISTIC ABOUT: BLOG MORE OFTEN
I’ve finally learned to be a bit more adventurous with my content and branch out a little more, and I’ve finally started to reach out and let friends/fellow bloggers/my fella photograph me, without falling into a self-loathing mess at the results…so I think this year might be the one where I hop back on the blogging train for the first time since I blogged from my university bedroom as a 19 year old psychology student.
What’re your plans and goals for the new year?
