I don’t go out much. I mean, of course, I leave the house (especially where after-work drinks are concerned), but I don’t go ‘out out’.
But when the wonderful Erica invited the rest of the Talented Talkers and I to celebrate Musical Bingo‘s 11th birthday celebration, well, who could pass it up?
So, what is Musical Bingo?
It pretty much does what it says on the tin – musical bingo is a bingo game without numbers, but songs on the cards, instead. There’s a great mix of 80s, 90s, and 00s music as well as current stuff, so you’re not going to be at a disadvantage if your musical tastes are a little more niche. And, as it would turn out, it’s even more fun than it looks (and sounds).
Armed with a table next to the stage, an incredible atmosphere, and a bottle of prosecco, it was impossible not to enjoy every second. We sang until our throats were sore, laughed until our faces hurt, and danced until we couldn’t dance any more.Unfortunately, none of our girl gang won the incredible prizes on offer (they had tickets to Bestival as well as a full charcoal barbecue up for grabs), but we did get to watch a pretty entertaining dance-off between three would be winners, as well as some other fun mini-games.
Where is Musical Bingo?
We attended the Musical Bingo event at Concrete, in Shoreditch (still one of my favourite haunts since my days working in East London), but there are venues around the UK, from Brighton to Liverpool. Find the full list, here.
Would I recommend it?
In a heartbeat – I’ve been meaning to go for years, and I’m sorry it took me so long to get there, because it was a blast. Tickets cost £12 for the evening and three rounds of bingo, and bar prices vary from about £6.50 for a glass of wine to £8.50 for a cocktail – pretty standard for London. The music is great, the staff are incredible, and there’s plenty of cringey pictures to look out for the next day on Facebook. What else could you need?
You can book your own trip to Musical Bingo here.
